About Allen Park
Allen Park is a small public park on Park Street that turns into the city's Christmas stage every December. It is the nucleus of the Kolkata Christmas Festival, run by the state tourism department since 2011, with choirs, school groups and bands performing each evening against the street's illuminations, which are made by lighting artisans from Chandannagar. The 2025 edition was inaugurated here on 18 December and its programmes ran until 30 December, with the park itself kept shut on 24 and 25 December for crowd control. The Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival used the park as its hub in 2024, and in October 2026 it hosts a Durga Puja for the first time.
