Things to do in Salt Lake

Salt Lake, officially Bidhannagar, is the planned township east of Kolkata, laid out in lettered blocks across five sectors. Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, the 68,000-seat football stadium at its southern edge, hosts the Kolkata Derby and India matches. Boimela Prangan beside Central Park is the permanent ground of the International Kolkata Book Fair, whose 50th edition is scheduled for 22 January to 3 February 2027, and City Centre mall is the township's meeting point. The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre in Sector III stages folk and classical programmes. The Green Line crosses Salt Lake with six stations, linking it to Sealdah, Esplanade and Howrah.
