Things to do in Park Street

Park Street, officially Mother Teresa Sarani, is Kolkata's oldest going-out street and still its busiest. Trincas, which opened as a tea-room in 1927, and Someplace Else at The Park hotel carry the live-band tradition, and the Oxford Bookstore at number 17 hosts book launches and literary festival sessions. Allen Park is the stage for the state's Kolkata Christmas Festival each December, when the street's lights run from St Xavier's College to Jawaharlal Nehru Road and the road is closed to traffic on the peak evenings. Park Street station on the Blue Line sits at the western end, so most venues are a five to ten minute walk.
