About Biswa Bangla Convention Centre
Biswa Bangla Convention Centre is the state's flagship conference venue, built by the development agency HIDCO in New Town and opened in 2017. The ten-storey building stands on Biswa Bangla Sarani near the Biswa Bangla Gate and holds a convention hall of about 3,200 seats, two smaller auditoriums and four banquet and exhibition halls, with a hotel run on a public-private basis behind it. Its design drew on Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi. It was built to bring meetings, conferences and exhibitions to Kolkata and hosts government summits, industry conclaves, medical and academic congresses, award shows and large ticketed stage events.
