About Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan (Milan Mela)

Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, still called Milan Mela by almost everyone, is Kolkata's main exhibition and trade-fair complex, across the road from Science City on the EM Bypass. It was built in 2008 as a permanent fairground and is owned and managed by the West Bengal Trade Promotion Organisation, a state body. With close to 32,000 square metres of exhibition space, it takes the shows that need the most floor area: industrial and consumer trade fairs, handloom and handicraft expos, travel and property shows and government conventions. The International Kolkata Book Fair was held here from 2009 before moving to Salt Lake. In September 2026 the Chief Minister addressed the city's puja committees here.
