Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan, still called Milan Mela by almost everyone, is Kolkata's main exhibition and trade-fair complex, across the road from Science City on the EM Bypass. It was built in 2008 as a permanent fairground and is owned and managed by the West Bengal Trade Promotion Organisation, a state body. Take the Orange Line to Barun Sengupta (Science City) and walk; the Bypass service road is slow on fair weekends. Large fairs open several gates. Note which gate you came in by, because the halls look alike. Weekday afternoons are far quieter than weekend evenings at consumer fairs.
