About Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium
Dhono Dhanyo is the West Bengal government's newest large performance complex, built in the shape of a conch shell in Alipore. It is named after a song by the poet and playwright Dwijendralal Ray. Planned in 2017 and delayed by the pandemic, it was inaugurated on 13 April 2023. The six-floor building has a 2,000-seat main auditorium with a revolving stage, a 540-seat mini auditorium and an open-air stage for about 300, plus a convention centre, a restaurant and guest rooms. The opening ceremony of the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival was held here on 4 December 2024, and the complex is lit in changing colours after dark.
