Mahajati Sadan is a historic auditorium on Chittaranjan Avenue in north-central Kolkata. Rabindranath Tagore laid its foundation stone on 19 August 1939 at the request of Subhas Chandra Bose, and called it the 'House of the Nation'. Work stopped after Bose left India, and the building was finished only after Independence, when Chief Minister Bidhan Chandra Roy pushed through the Mahajati Sadan Act of 1949 to complete

Mahatma Gandhi Road station on the Blue Line is the easy way in; Chittaranjan Avenue traffic is slow in the evening. Tickets are normally sold by the organising group or at the hall, so check the event's own announcement. College Street's book stalls and the Coffee House are a ten-minute walk, though most stalls shut on Sundays.
