About Boimela Prangan (Central Park Mela Ground)
Boimela Prangan is the fairground beside Salt Lake's Central Park where the International Kolkata Book Fair is held every winter. The fair is a public festival rather than a trade show and draws more than two million visitors over its run, the largest attendance of any book fair in the world. The 2026 edition ran from 22 January to 3 February with Argentina as the theme country. The next one, scheduled for 22 January to 3 February 2027, marks the fair's 50th year, with the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram' as its central theme. In 2025 the fair was open from noon to 8 pm daily.
