About ICCR Kolkata (Rabindranath Tagore Centre)
The Rabindranath Tagore Centre on Ho Chi Minh Sarani is the Kolkata base of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, the Government of India body for cultural exchange that Maulana Abul Kalam Azad founded in 1950. The building combines an auditorium with several exhibition galleries, and its calendar is dense: painting and photography shows that change weekly, classical music and dance recitals, book launches, lectures, film screenings and festivals organised with foreign consulates. It is also rented for ticketed shows; the city's April 2026 comedy listings included an experimental set by Vaibhav Sethia here. Many exhibitions and talks are free to walk into, which makes it an easy stop near Park Street.
