About Netaji Indoor Stadium
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium is a 12,000-seat arena next to Eden Gardens. It was completed in January 1975 to host that year's World Table Tennis Championships and has been the city's largest indoor hall ever since. It staged the 1981 Asian Basketball Championship and the Sunfeast Open tennis tournament, and it has been a home venue for the Bengal Warriors in the Pro Kabaddi League. Its non-sporting calendar is just as full: large concerts, trade fairs, political conventions and state functions, including the opening ceremony of the Kolkata International Film Festival in December 2023. Mother Teresa's state funeral service was held here on 13 September 1997.
