About Oxford Bookstore, Park Street
The Oxford Bookstore at 17 Park Street is the original shop of a chain established in 1919, which has no connection with the university press of the same name. It is as much an events address as a shop. The Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival, organised by the bookstore's owners, grew out of it: the curtain-raiser for the 17th edition was held here, the Oxford Junior Literary Festival for children uses the store, and the main festival ran at the Alipore Museum and The Park from 9 to 11 January 2026. Through the year the shop hosts book launches, author conversations, readings and children's sessions, usually free and announced a few days ahead.
