About South City Mall
South City Mall on Prince Anwar Shah Road has been South Kolkata's main mall since it opened on 16 January 2008 on the site of the old Usha factory. It has about a million square feet of leasable space, a food court on the top floor and an INOX multiplex that includes an IMAX screen. For event-goers, the mall matters in three ways: its atrium is used for festive installations, brand launches and children's activities; the multiplex is one of the city's main first-day cinemas; and its restaurants and bars run their own music and sports-screening nights. The adjoining residential towers were built by the same developer. Weekends and festival eves are extremely crowded.
