Things to do in Behala & Joka
4 events in behala & joka across Kolkata โ mostly heritage (1), business (1), spiritual (1), kids (1).
Behala is a large, self-contained suburb in the south-west along Diamond Harbour Road. It has a strong Durga Puja culture of its own: the Sabarna Roy Choudhury family's puja at Barisha is traced back to 1610 and is generally counted as the city's oldest, and the neighbourhood's club pujas draw visitors who want theme pandals without the central-city queues. Behala Bazar, Behala Chowrasta and Sakherbazar are its market hubs, each now with a metro station. The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta's campus is at Joka. The Purple Line runs elevated from Joka to Majerhat, where you change to a suburban train or a cab for the rest of the city.
