Things to do in Gariahat & Golpark

Gariahat crossing is South Kolkata's pavement bazaar: sari shops, hawker stalls under the flyover and the fish market, at their most crowded in the month before Durga Puja and Poila Boishakh. Hindustan Park and Purna Das Road, just off it, are lined with boutiques, cafés and small galleries. Ekdalia Evergreen and Singhi Park put up two of the south side's most-visited pandals. At Golpark, the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture runs lectures and concerts, and Dhakuria to the south has the Dakshinapan complex of state handloom emporia beside the government-run Madhusudan Mancha theatre. One of the last two tram routes runs from Gariahat to Esplanade.
