Things to do in BBD Bagh (Dalhousie)

BBD Bagh, the old Dalhousie Square, is the colonial administrative quarter built around the Lal Dighi tank: Writers' Building, the General Post Office, St John's Church, the Town Hall, Metcalfe Hall and the Currency Building all stand within a short walk. It is an office district on weekdays, which makes early mornings and Sundays the best time for the heritage walks that start here; several operators run a Dalhousie or 'White Town' trail. Millennium Park, opened in December 1999, gives the area a riverside promenade along Strand Road. Mahakaran station on the Green Line opens straight into the square, and ferries cross to Howrah from Fairlie Place.
